How to reverse enginner this barcode?

So I know that barcodes are text compressed into images. That means there is a way to decode them, at least from one side. Sadly, I don't have the full QR code because it's from an ARG from Valve called the XCCR ARG. I thought that you people are the only people who can maybe extract a code or something out of it because the ARG is kind of dead.
