I have a (very expensive) USB device, which is supposed to be used with a piece of software for Windows from the same vendor as the device.
The software actually doesn't work currently - it detects the device, but it doesn't work as it should.
I've been trying to run the Windows software with wine on Linux, but that doesn't work.
So I thought: In principle, shouldn't one be able to inspect the data going through the USB cable, enabling one to write a program for interfacing to the hardware on Linux? How would one go about doing that?
