Could this have contained malware?

So I was googling about Trump and shooter and high up in the search results was this wikipedia link.

I pressed it and it sort of took me to it, but there was some other Wikipedia page with text overlaying the real text. It behaved just like an ad but with text, as you couldn’t scroll past it and read what’s behind. At the bottom (not a part of the ”ad” page) it said ”redirected” or something similar.

Now when I press the link it takes me to the correct Wikipedia site right away.

I wonder, can Wikipedia redirections be harmful?

Here’s the Wikipedia link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempted_assassination_of_Donald_Trump but the redirection is no longer there
