WAP2 cracking using reaver not working

I am not that much of a pro. I tried cracking my WPA2 protected wifi using reaver it gave [!] WARNING: Detected AP rate limiting, waiting 60s before re-checking So I tried flooding the AP using mdk3 to force it to reset mdk3 wlan0mon a -a [interface] -m and nothing happens Does this method only works in old routers?
