Duplicate contact just appeared on my hacked phone's SIM card - what does this provide the hacker?

I have had a duplicate contact appear in my contacts that's listed with the same name and number but on the SIM card whereas I only had it on the phone previously.

I believe the phone has been hacked, but what purpose does this duplicate contact on the SIM serve with the same phone number and name? Would it take advantage of vulnerabilities to allow something?
