Been trying to retrieve software from a locked Mac desktop computer. Every attempt has failed thus far. Any advice?
No interest whatsoever in accessing any data or information on the computer. Bought in auction from biotech company and I’m willing to bet there’s some software on there that would be very useful. Would like to retrieve the software before wiping the computer. Surprisingly these people didn’t wipe it.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
Boot into recovery mode, through terminal, list accounts and change password. It requires me to change a password on every account though and some of them are domain accounts so I don’t want to mess with that.
Boot into single user mode. Mount drive for read and write. (At this point I can see it only mounts for read only, and I’m sure I’m typing correctly). Try to delete applesetupdone file anyway and of course I’m read only so I can’t.
Do you have any suggestions?
