I've been wondering for a while: how do 'hackers' feel about the intelligence gathering part of the process?

Im not a hacker but i have engaged in OSINT gathering from time to time and it just feels weird... because it's literally cyber stalking. I assume pentesters aren't really bothered because it's their job and they have to put in 100% effort. But what about the hobbyists, black hats and grey hats? How are they able to stalk people on the internet, over and over again, don't they feel like creeps or anything? Do they ever catch feelings for the people they cyber stalk?
