Is there any way for a zip bomb (ex: 42.zip or any similars) to be disguised as another file such as pdf?

I'm studying cybersecurity on my own and I was playing a game with my peers that consisted in attempting to crash our respective VM without each other notice. I immediately thought of a zip bomb but is highly likely for them to notice that it is, in fact, a zip bomb. Is there any way to disguise the zip as a pdf or a docx?
