Is using Proxies dangerous for privacy?

I still haven't tried to use proxychains because it seems like you have to pay which makes you not anonymous.

Do you know a proxy that can be used in privacy?

I ask because lately many sites block Tor or VPN traffic and I still want to have privacy and be able to access and use them?
