Can My Exact Location be Found?

Hi all, So I know nothing about hacking, programming, etc. So this is probably a silly question, but I've been seeing a meme going around where someone is in a debate online and their opponent basically finds out their exact location coordinates. Can this actually be done and if so how? Me asking how makes it seem like I'm trying to find someone's location lol, I'm not, I just want to know how to protect myself from this. Thanks
