How did hackers find my server IP address (hosted via siteground), and how to prevent it happening again?

I have an ecommerce store and this is the second time hackers had find my server IP and used it to crash the website.

I obviously have some type of vulnerability they are using the get the IP (although its been months in between these specific attacks). How can I prevent this from happening again?
