Where should i go to learn about the hacking community?

Hey all,

I’m doing some research into modern day “dissidents” and black-hat hacking falls right into that category. But seeing as I’m not a hacker myself, I don’t even know where to start to learn about this community!

Can anyone give me some pointers on where I can turn to start learning about hackers/hacking community?
