best way to find vulnerabilities?

Hello

i am currently learning about web penetration or ways to find vulnerabilities in websites, and i have a little knowledge about it via portswigger's web academy where i have learned about XSS, authentication and SQL injections.

Is the best way to find vulns to use an automated program like a tool that scans for all potential vulnerabilities, or is it faster and have a higher precision rate to manually test for "flaws"?
