I'm reading Attack Surface and its spent several pages talking about BadUSB and USG filters. I totally forgot this was even a thing. I never realized it was an actual hardware issue and that it may still be a risk even today.
I recall about 10-15 years ago there was malware spread via USB flash drives that would jump to a device as soon as it was inserted, but I believe this was different from BadUSB and was related to a Windows auto-read software feature that was later fixed.
So, how concerned should we be able USB products? Is this limited to USB 1/2 or does it also affect USB 3?
Thanks!
